PJ Veltri is a freelance technician with expirience in all aspects of live event production. He has over 15 years of exprience in ths industry with over 500 shows to his credit. He currently works for the Grosse Pointe Public School System where he is the Assistant Technical Director where he is responsible for the scenic design, technical design, lighting design, electrics, rigging, and stage management for every event in all of the district's 5 traditional theatre spaces as well as in the non-traditional spaces where live events are held.

     PJ works hard to be at the the top of his field, and constantly seeks out training opportunites to better himself and the events on which he works. Over the summer of 2015, PJ attended ETC's Cue conference where he participated in the first certification of Eos Family programmers. PJ is now certified as an EOS Family Level 2 Programmer. Over the summer of 2014, PJ attended the annual NAAFED confrence hosted by Hall Associates Flying Effects and learned a great deal about rigging saftey as well as performer flying effects. In addition to these events, he has also attedended training on the GrandMA series of consoles as well as multiple USITT conferences where he attended many breakout sessions.


     PJ recieved formal training from the Michigan State University Department of Theatre from 2007 through 2001 where he recieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in lighting design in the Spring of 2011. Although his chosen field was lighting design, PJ had the ability to take classes in all design fields where he also developed a love for scenic and media design and a deep interest for audio engineering. Since then, he has provided scenic design for over ten productions and has had an opportunity to provide his skills as the Projection Engineer for the 2015 tour of Ernie that travelled to multiple locations across the state of Michigan.


     In addition to his work in the "other" areas, PJ stays very busy with lighting design and production. Over the last year he worked on countless productions with the Grosse Pointe Public School System including five musicals, four straight plays, and six show choir concerts. Thanks to this extremely packed production schedule, he thrives under long hours, tight schedules and looming deadlines.


     PJ is more than willing to do whatever it takes to get the show up and will always provide the highest caliber of work

  • Scenic Design for Pierce Middle School's production of Alladin Jr.
  • Scenic Design Consultation for Chippewa Valley High School's production of Shrek
  • Electrical & Rigging Consultation for the renovation of Pierce Middle School's Auditorium


In addition he is currently researching the actual cost of upgrading various systems within repertory light plots to new energy efficent fixtures with the intent of providing a higher production quality for equal or lesser cost.
